Rio de Janeiro

Rio de Janeiro… The name itself is melting in your mouth…There’s a longing inside of it… Ipanema… Copacabana… Sugar Loaf Mountain… Samba, Bossa Nova… and – of course – the legendary derrières on the beach of Copacabana… Oh and we were really fascinated to do a little myth busting on that one… First off, they do exist – the perfectly shaped rear views of Brazilian beauties… hardly covered with the itsy bit of a thong (in Brazil, they are called “dental floss” – fio dental)… but they are rare… see for yourself!

(Shoes: mongrels in common )

…it’s the question of perspective… and a matter of balance… in these shoes.

…one of my favourite poses (from the view of a photographer)… more likely than not from Helena’s point of view… :)

Rio?… Football!… Kick it like Helena! :)

…The historical tram in Santa Teresa… Rio’s most charming public transport… Cling to it on the outside and you go for free…

…The Cariocas’ sport enthusiasm is sometimes somewhat bizarre…

…and the real connoisseurs sometimes sit secluded in the back row…

…The train has left the station… in every respect…

…Caught in the act of flirting… Rio’s Casanovas get younger and younger these days…

…Rio’s most famous stairs… the Escadaria Selarón is several storeys high…

(Dress: Lena Hoschek)

…the lower steps are safe, while it’s rather dangerous to roam upstairs… as we were told – afterwards…

P.S. The picture on the left has been shot on top… :)

Simpático – the charming automotive decoration in Rio’s most alluring quarter… Santa Teresa.

…For sale… that CAR!!!

…gastronomic indulgences at the end of an exciting day…

…This is not an UFO… this is…

(Shoes: Kaviar Gauche)

…the incredibly charismatic, futuristic Museu de Arte Contemporânea de Niterói, a tour de force of Brazil’s most famous architect, Oscar Niemeyer.

…”Girl from Ipanema… tra-la-la…“

(Dress: Tara Jarmon)

…Famous pavements – on the world’s most famous beach… the Copacabana…

…The boys from Ipanema clearly have more than surf riding on their mind…

…which we now have on record…

…The sport enthusiasm of the Cariocas is everywhere…

…either way… Helena, direct quote: “Boys will be boys…”

…The beach – time to relax… Or: is Copacabana lifeguard a dream job?!

…An image speaks louder than words… :) ))

…Beach life… active… or relaxed… And notice: not a single amalgam filling…:)))

…Myth busting – the Copacabana… :) ))

…Unavoidable: the Sugar Loaf Mountain… Ironically it was a British nanny who was the very first to ascend this mountain back in the 19th century… :) )) I’m serious…

…The bird’s eye view of Rio – Copacabana and the Sugar Loaf Mountain – so worth the money… One helicopter ticket costs 70 € and you definitely should treat yourself to it… It was Helena’s first helicopter flight ever and she got highly enthusiastic about it… even if I had to talk her into this experience at first because of her notorious aviophobia…

…Triple sightseeing – Ipanema on the left… Copacabana on the right… the Sugar Loaf Mountain behind… The first solo ascent was made by a British nanny!!! In the country of SUPER-sportsmen… :) I know, I have mentioned this before… :) ))))

…what a view down from the Sugar Loaf Mountain at the Copacabana…

…Ipanema, Sunday… It’s show time for seeing and being seen…

Cristo Redentor… Here at the top of the 700-meter mountain he seems to protect the town with his arms outstretched… It’s a bit of a challenge to take pictures here… The Brazilian rainforest wraps the statue in humidity and fog sheets…making it disappear for a few seconds every now and then…
